High-power ultra-stable single-frequency lasers are often used for high precision remote sensing applications such as particle detection, gas sensing, acoustic sensing, vibrational spectroscopy, absorption spectroscopy and reflection spectroscopy. Customers frequently utilize interferometry to detect motion or the distance to the laser source.
Some specific examples of high precision sensing include fiber-based stress/strain sensors, acoustic vibration sensors, and acousto-optic modulation sensors.
One common requirement for this space is the need for single-frequency operation of the laser source with a long coherence length.
